Every Top 10 list on wer-ist-der-beste.com follows the same rules. Here we explain what an entry’s score is made of, when the order changes and who is behind the site.

Three sources, one score

Most rankings – for agencies, photographers or places to stay, for example – combine three sources:

  • Customer reviews (40 percent): stars and review counts come from reviewfinder.org, which brings together reviews from several platforms. An entry with only a few reviews is weighted more cautiously than one with many.
  • Editorial assessment (40 percent): the editors award up to 100 points for each of four criteria – quality and performance, value for money, transparency, and accessibility and service.
  • Community votes (20 percent): the votes of our readers. As long as a ranking has no votes yet, this share is spread over the other two sources.

Together they make the score you see as “pts” on the cards. Every detail page shows how it is made up under “Rating in detail”. The criteria themselves are described on the page Rating criteria.

Rankings where only the community counts

Some topics live from their audience, such as monthly polls. There, only the vote counts: whoever gets the most votes is on top. Which mode applies is stated on every topic page under “How we rate”.

When the order changes

Votes are counted right away, but the order only changes when the editors publish a ranking again. The date is shown above every list as “Ranking as of”. That way ranks do not jump around by the hour, and every edition stays traceable.

“In the hunt”

Below every list you will find candidates just behind the first ten. You can nominate them for the Top 10. Once a candidate has enough nominations, the editors consider it for the next edition of the ranking.
